Los Angeles-based Made Goods (MG) are innovators sourcing unusual materials into dynamic shapes and unexpected proportions. Their focus is on statement pieces and lighting fixtures for experimental designers and the boutique collector. MG offers handmade furniture and lighting made from natural teak and aged brass, reinforced concrete, and sculptural statement pieces with luxe faux finishes resembling natural textures and earth stones.
MG Seating and Display
MG are well known for their modern bespoke stools and display pedestal collections, inspired by both the natural world and periods in art history. The Adonis is finished in a reflective faux malachite with a smooth marble-like texture. It can be used for seating, display or as a statement piece. The realistic faux shagreen Annika stool is a re-imagining of Egyptian motifs that influenced the early 20th century Art Deco period.
For fans of brutalist design, MG offers the Ashmore stool made of reinforced concrete and finished in two-tone, contrast metallics. Handmade and designed to withstand variations in weather and temperature, the Ashmore can be used for outdoor seating and lounge or as a display piece.
Consoles Desks and Cabinets
For outdoor entertaining, the weather resistant Avanna console is stylish and efficient. Constructed of natural teak with a faux-wicker basket, the Avanna can be used as a dining tray or cocktail stand. The Grant Console is inspired by 1960s pop-art motifs. Constructed of a surreal lattice frame of hammered brass fitted with glass shelves at top and bottom. It is a chic console placement for bar or lounge area.
From the desk and credenza-buffet collections, the Kalman is a rustic modernist piece reminiscent of 1930s craftsman or Hemingway’s Key West bungalow. Upholstered in full grain leather; the top finished for an aged-camel texture. Natural variations in color and texture in the fine leather may occur over time.
Based on client feedback, MG created the Adali, a slated cabinet buffet finished in faux raffia. The contemporary piece of clean design includes adjustable shelves and cord cut-outs at the back. The Adali is available in four color options and two sizes.
Lighting Fixtures and Lamps
MG offers an eclectic selection of lamps, table lamps, and chandeliers for the adventurous aesthete. The Amani Drum drop-shade is formed in a soft organic shape of woven abaca and finished in natural linen. The Amani Drum is available in two sizes. The Bixby is crafted from handmade pottery ceramic and finished in two-tone neutrals of cream and sand. The Bixby is a perfect accent table lamp for a white or dark brown credenza or desk. For a coastal modern touch, the Connelly is a drop-pendant chandelier of beautifully woven, earth tone seagrass.
Another captivating drop-pendant is the Elba, a shape inspired by the mid-century modern sputnik satellite. Overlapping disks of kabibe shells replace standard spheres. The variable dimensions and diameters of each disk create an abstract geometric floating satellite.
Brutalist design makes an appearance in the gothic Harper drop-pendant. Fabricated from brass sheet metal; each piece is cut and edged like feathers or leaves. The Harper is a beautiful piece to mix with neutral and contrasting earth tones. The Alondra is an abstract drop-pendant inspired by a flower in bloom. Constructed of several layers of natural rattan in fluid, braided edges that diffuse ambient light. The Alondra is now available in small or large sizes.
The sculptural Raina Floor Lamp is designed for tropical coastal living. The base is constructed of natural oyster shells set in resin, making each lamp unique with natural color variation.
